Industrial Engineering (IEI) is a specialization that is part of the Engineering and Management field, which emerged in Romania in 1990 as a necessity imposed by the requirements of the market economy. In the University of Piteşti, the IEI specialization was founded in 1999 (currently  ARACIS accredited).

The Industrial Economic Engineer, as the IEI graduate is called, acquires interdisciplinary skills of technical, economic and managerial nature (computer programming and operating, designing products and manufacturing technologies, management of product and process systems, production systems management, industrial logistics, economic and financial analysis of industries companies) that enable hiring in different industrial, research or Educational fields.

The Industrial Economic Engineer can thus work at various levels of management or in various departments, especially in sales, marketing, purchasing, production management, logistics, but also in technical departments (design, research, etc.) or Human Resources within different enterprises.
